Research interests
- Mechanics and thermodynamics of continua: foundations of the mechanics of complex bodies connecting events from nano to macroscopic level, construction of models for special classes of complex bodies (quasicrystals, ferroelectrics, polymeric fluids…), dynamics of complex fluids, discontinuity waves, evolution of point, line and surface defects, fracture mechanics, damage mechanics, plasticity.
- Computational methods: extended finite elements for the mechanics of complex bodies, variational integrators.
- Statistical mechanics: substructural stochastic behaviour in random materials.
