After Montorsoli
there is the stop of Cercina, just on the entrsnce of Pratolino Tunnell,
the longer in this section of line.
The line pass from the Mugnone to the Carza valley, on the Sieve basin.
The pictures at side show how in 1987 was the entrance of tunnel, and below
the site of the new fontebuona Station. The old house in the third picture
have been domolished, (Its old name was Saltalavacca) and a small building,
similar to the one of Campomigliaio have been built.
The site is interesting since have been built also a pedestrian way, completely
protected by an huge fence from the very busy road, to allow people to
walk savely the about 700m from Fontebuona to the station.
In 1998 has built here a station, and in 9.1.99 the first official train reappered out of the tunnel:

As you can see this is the only station on the line that does not have
an underpass. Since the station is just on one end of the tunnel, and access
to the station is only from the road there are two ramp that lead to the
two tracks.
Along the road for about 700m, from the village of Fontebuona, there is
a prodected sidewalk, to reach safely the station.
You can see better on the next picture, got from the parking of the station.

This new station is the shortest of the line, with only 197 m. but on inaugural train was one of the most spectacular.
Click here to have the movie of arrival of the inaugural train. click on picture to have a particular.
The train leave Fontebuona going, on a
slight downgrade, to Vaglia.
Vaglia
is one of the historic station, present from the beginning of the line
( The other being Montorsoli and S.
Piero, while Caldine was added 2 years after
the opening of the line (althought current building is from 1934), it is
also one that had the slightest modifications.
It conserve still (althought now only for estheticl reason) the old bucket
well and the iron grate of the ticket office.
(again only cosmetic functionality: on all but the extreme stations there
are no staff).

.

Having
removed the staff allowed the FS to have a larger waiting room, flowers
however was there only for inauguaration day, while the space for the disable
acces to the underpass have been obtained (in a way similar to Montorsoli)
using the space formerly used for freight.
The short stub remained, in a similar way to the one in S.Piero is just to store service vehicle (Only Caldine have a high platform for loading). Stil standing a service vehicle with platform for checking bridge signals.
Below two more images of the former Freight deposit.

Inauguration day: many people, and the stair used until a few days before for servicing signal now is used by someone getting pictures of the line.
