Symposium description
Thoroughly understanding the mechanical behavior of metals and alloys often requires a synergy between experiments and numerical or data driven modeling. We invite scientists who combine both experiments and simulations in the broad field of mechanics and multi-physical aspects of metals across different length scales to present their work in this symposium. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, synergies between microscopy, tomography, diffraction, micromechanical testing and other characterization techniques together with molecular dynamics, dislocation dynamics, phase field modeling, crystal plasticity and other modeling approaches including data-driven or machine learning.
For joint work of two authors, we offer to present their work as a "double feature", where the first contribution (e.g., focusing on the experimental part) is directly followed by the second (e.g., focusing on the modeling part).
